Up-coming Events at Corning
Genealogy Weekend in Corning
Join Erin Doyle in Curran House on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. She’ll be assisting people with their local and Irish genealogy from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Erin has been growing the collection of books and family genealogies in the Nolan-Murphy library, located in the McDonald room of the center. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on our scenic grounds. Water will be provided. Contact Erin if you would like more information about this event: [email protected] or 812-482-1650.
Corning Annual Picnic
Join us Sunday, September 21 for our annual picnic event at Corning! The details are still in the works, and they’ll be posted soon. Expect a great time with food, entertainment, genealogy, vendors, and wonderful Irish hospitality. We hope to see you there!
Cemetery Walk
Our third Cemetery Walk is scheduled for Saturday, November 1 from 4:00-5:30. Just a reminder that this is not a scary event. It is a respectful tour through the cemetery with volunteers at chosen graves to share that person’s story. Predominantly those of Irish ancestry. It is a family event and would be a great opportunity for clubs or classrooms to learn some Daviess County history. We are particularly excited this year, as we will be hosting Irish storyteller Gary Randolph to shares stories and music. We are currently inviting those who would like to participate as a grave side story teller to contact Connie Carroll 812-486-5003 for more information. Please leave a voice mail and you will be contacted. this is a fun evening. Light refreshments will be served. There is no admission but a free will offering will be appreciated.
Christmas at Corning
Good news! It looks like our Christmas At Corning 2025 will be held on Saturday, November 22nd. The time will be announced later. We have had a great response to our request for decorators. We now have limited rooms or areas open to sponsor. This year we have individuals, a club and the possibility of two not for profit organization going to decorate.
We would still like to have our Celtic Hall decorated too. Last year, we served warm drinks and desserts in the Hall, it had great attendance also. Are there any bakers or craft people in the area who might want to set up a booth?
Please contact Regina for any questions.
